Psychotherapy works

Danish and foreign research shows that psychotherapy has a long-term effect on stress, anxiety, depression and other mental strains.

On this page you will find different forms of therapy and directions, which form the framework for how I work.

However, the therapy will always be adapted to your problem and the challenges that you experience.

I offer individual assessment that is the basis for outpatient psychotherapy, emergency crisis help, individual therapy, couples therapy and psychological counseling.

I offer shorter and longer courses in both Danish and English.

Psychotherapy helps you who are affected by:

Intensive dynamic short-term therapy

Intensive dynamic short-term therapy (ISTDP) is a psychodynamic therapy method that aims to strengthen the individual's resources to create positive changes in life. ISTDP therapy is a path to self-insight and to an understanding of our unconscious emotions and the related attachment to our early and close relationships. The result of the therapy is the experience of an increased feeling of freedom, renewed energy, power of action, presence and meaning.

ISTDP is recommended by the National Board of Health
and is an evidence-based therapy form. Effect studies show that the method is effective in the treatment of a very wide range of psychological and psychosomatic issues such as. depression, anxiety and personality disorders.
ISTDP, like cognitive therapy and medical treatment, is recommended by the National Board of Health for the treatment of depression.

Narrative therapy

In narrative therapy, work is done to find more beneficial narratives (narratives) about yourself and your life, than the narrative that is currently dominant in your life. There will always be events that do not fit into the current story and that we therefore omit. In narrative therapy, the therapy will help you to spot some of the events that usually do not get much space in your self-narrative, and which can form the basis for other narratives about yourself and your life. Instead of describing yourself as e.g. anxious or depressed, we work to get you separated from the problem you need help solving. In this way, it becomes clearer that there are also times in your life when anxiety or depression do not take up as much space.

The form of therapy can i.a. used for problems that manifest themselves in the form of anxiety, depression, stress, trauma reactions or dissatisfaction in the family.

Cognitive behavioral therapy

In cognitive behavioral therapy, you and the psychologist work together to identify the inappropriate automatic negative thoughts that you are experiencing and that stretch your legs so that you can live the life you want. The inappropriate thoughts affect your emotions and your behavior and therefore the goal is to replace the destructive thoughts with more realistic and helpful thoughts. Together you explore how the automatic negative thoughts can be related to certain basic assumptions about the world and yourself. When you go into cognitive behavioral therapy, you will often be given homework assignments where you practice noticing the destructive thoughts and replacing them with more helpful thoughts outside the therapy room.
There are a large number of research studies that show that cognitive behavioral therapy has a positive effect in the treatment of many different mental disorders.

Assesment

A psychological assessment is a method to identify whether a person has more profound personality, mental and/or psychological difficulties and the possible causes thereof. The purpose of identifying any difficulties is to gain an understanding of the way one functions in life. In addition, an assessment can be used to subsequently obtain the relevant treatment and support that can alleviate the problems. Including possible psychotherapeutic treatment courses and which therapeutic method will help you best.
